Welcome to the forthcoming edition of the Festival Arsenal Nights. This time the Festival runs under a subtitle How about some jazz…, thus presenting projects both of strictly jazz nature, as well as concepts which are classical but enriched with pieces of precursors of jazz. The two notable exceptions are the opening and the final concerts, filled solely with creations of the magnificent Wolfgang Amadeus, and this is because of a somewhat mystical 222nd anniversary of his death occurring this year.
We will host some genuine celebrities amongst the Festival’s jazz performers. Numerous musical critics consider Adam Bałdych a rising star of world’s jazz violin, and we will see him together with his quartet on Friday, 5 July. Two days later, on Sunday, 7 July, we will listen to the only Polish jazz string quartet, the Atom String Quartet recently awarded with Polish prestigious FRYDERYK. They will play with Nika Lubowicz, a winner of many international competitions and festivals. On Friday after that, 12 July, we will be invited to a jazz evening by Filip Wojciechowski’s Trio, renown pianist; the winner of the special award of the 13th International Chopin Competition; he will play his own arrangement of Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Gershwin and others.
